Nor Cal CDS Junior Championships August 9 & 10 Meg Adams did an outstanding job at the Junior Championships the competition was held at Ranch Murietta. Meg rode her warm-up test on Firday and then on
Saturday she rode Training level Test 3 in the indoor arena for two judges. She ended up in first place
after the first ride with a combinded score of 68.8%. On Sunday, she had a very nice ride in the outdoor arena with Training Level Test 4 and ended up iwth a combined score of almost 64%. After both days were averaged together, Meg ended up with a combined schore of 66.1%. This put her 3rd overallonly .5% off first place. Thank you to everyone who came out to the show to cheer Meg and Nash on. Both Meg and Jan Oakes are now qualified to go to Los Angeles in October to ride in the CDS Annual Championship Show and the USDF Region 7 Championships. Congratulations to you both and we look forward to October!!

Classy Miss Macsey aka Hannah and placed top ten in 3 of the 4 overall competitions in classes that had as many as 23 horses. Congratulations to Teresa for doin such a great job!
Dressage in the Almonds in July 20 Meg Adams and Nash attended the show and received a 70.4% from Hilda Gurnery on their Training Level 4 and rode in their first First Level Test 1 and received a 63% from Cauleen Glass. Congratulations to Meg and Nash who have only been a team since last November we look forward to your rides at the Junior Championships in August at Rancho Murietta
Shelly Siegel Dressage and Adult Amateur Championship June 6, 7 & 8 Meg Adams, Amanda Ehnat, and Jan Oakes all rode. The show was held at the lovely Santa Rosa Equestrian Center (used to be Oakridge Training Stables). We had a great chicken BBQ and a live band Sat. night. There was lots of green grass, oak trees, flowers around the dressage rings, etc. The weather was beautiful. Meg and Jan are both qualified to go on to Los Angeles in October and Meg finished her qualifications for the Junior Championships in August. Meg and Nash received two scores of 68%+, and a 67%. Jan rode on Friday to prepare for Sunday and received a 64%+ on first level, test 4. Jan ended up 5th in the Championships with a combined score of 61%+ and did a super job on Seth (this class had two judges). Amanda did well with Donny and received several 8's on her rides. They made a lot of progress this week-end with continuous improvement in the tests. Amanda ended up placing behind the open riders in some of her classes with good ribbons. The classes were pretty big as they combined open, adult amateur, and juniors in some of the classes. We had a great time socially and the horses were really relaxed and well behaved. Congratulations to all 3 of the riders and their great horses! WE ARE GOING TO LOS ANGELES IN OCTOBER TO COMPETE AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!!
Bishop Mule Days May 24 & 25 Lyn's student wound up as the Reserve World Champion Amateur on her mule!!
Star Vaughn Dressage Show May 17th &18 In spite of the heat, Jan and Meg had a good show at Starr-Vaughn. Meg was only able to show on Sunday, but ended up with a 4th and a 2nd place at Training level 3 & 4. They looked fabulous and Nash was showing off his very lovely gaits. It was a lot of fun to watch. Jan only rode one test on Sat. as it was over 100 degrees. She ended up 2nd with a qualifying score. Sunday, Seth was a little tense in the spookiest arena and they received a respectable 62.5% on 1st level, test 3. Jan's 2nd ride was a show-stopper. She really nailed it and won a very large class with a 68.4% on 1st level test 4. They are ready to win the AA Championships in June!
Bridlewood *** Dressage Show March 14 & 15 Everyone had a GREAT show. I was so proud to be
the trainer for our 3 competing riders. They were awesome. Jan won all 4 of her 1st level classes and finished her qualifying scores for the Adult Amateur Championships in June on her new horse, Seth. The indoor arena was the spookiest I have seen and the horses and riders did well in spite of the noises, people appearing from around corners, etc. Amanda and Doni (Adonis) looked great and ended up with 3 second
places and a really good score on Sat. Amanda received some scores of 8 on her tests and Doni handled the spooky ring really well for his first rated show. Meg and Nash won all 3 of their classes and Meg only needs one more score to be qualified for the Junior Championships in August. Meg
received several scores of 8 on her tests, but the most important score was the rider score of 8 on her last ride. Nash was worried and a little spooky and Meg rode like a professional and the judge scored her accordingly. We ended up scratching Amanda's and Meg's last tests as the weather turned very bad with some thunder and lightening, and eventually hail. All in all, it was a very successful show and all the riders came away with some really valuable experience.
Sandy Collier was the guest instructor at the Snaffle Bit Ranch in Lodi 1/12
& 1/13/08. The clinic was focused on training the reined cow horse. Lyn participated in this clinic on her 3 year old AQHA mare, Hobby Please. Mornings were spend working on exercises to improve the reining work - spins, stops, lead changes, circles. The afternoons were spent working cattle in the round pen for the younger horses, and taking the cow down the fence for the more experienced horses. Hobby Please (aka "Candy") really got into working the cows. The clinic was very well taught and Lyn and Candy came away with many new exercises to help develop Candy into
a cow
horse. Even though this clinic did not focus on dressage, the exercises were very closely aligned with dressage training. Many of the training exercises that Lyn learned, she has passed on to her dressage students with great success. Lyn believes it is important to "think outside the box" and keep an open mind when it comes to training horses.
Starr-Vaughn Dressage Show, November 17-18, 2007. Lyn had three students showing at this show as well as showing a client's horse herself. Meg Adams competed on
her 3 weeks new horse, Nourville in her very first dressage show. Lyn found Nash for Meg and helped
with the purchasing process. Meg and "Nash" did very well placing in all of their classes at training level. Nash was a perfect gentleman for his new owner who has plans to eventually make it to the North American Young Rider's Championships aboard her wonderful new mount. Jan Oakes showed Barbara Suechting's Friesian gelding, Nazareth (aka Seth) at training level tests 3 & 4 while recovering from a horrible flu virus. In spite of being ill, Jan was able to receive two of the necessary three qualifying scores to take her and Seth to the Adult Amateur Championships in Santa Rosa at the Shelly Seigal Memorial Dressage Show, June 7 & 8, 2008. Ingrid Westin competed in her first 3 star rated dressage show on
her dressage horse, Kirin. Lyn helped Ingrid purchase Kirin last February, 2007. They have been working at the schooling show level and were high-point for the SVC-CDS series of schooling shows. At Starr-Vaughn, Ingrid won two of her
classes and almost won a third class, placing 2nd by .3 of a point. Watch for this pair later in the year in the show ring they are unstoppable. Lyn Showed Cristin Prenez's lovely Friesian gelding, Wytse at First level and placed 2nd in two classes (missing first by .3 of a point both times). Wytse did very well as he has been out of the show ring for nearly a year and a half.
October 27-28, 2007 - USDF Trainer's Symposium with Jan Brink - Lyn and two students, Jan Oakes and Ingrid Westin, attended this outstanding symposium presented by Jan Brink. Jan shared many of his training techniques and exercises he uses to bring horses to the Grand Prix level of competition. The demonstration horses and riders were outstanding. Many of them have been or are currently on our USEF long list. The Symposium was held at Starr-Vaughn in Elk Grove and was attended by many top trainers and judges. It was well worth attending.
Lyn was a guest judge for the Brawley Cattle Call Queen contest in October, 2007. Lyn was the horsemanship judge for the 10 pageant contestants. It was a very different experience from dressage judging, but a lot of fun.
SVC-CDS Dressage Camp Instructor, Sept 14, 15, & 16, 2007. This was the 2nd year that Lyn was invited to teach at this wonderful adult dressage camp held at Rod and Karen Hiskin's Eventful Acres. Lyn gave two informal lectures, one on getting the most from a new instructor, and one on competitive strategies. The talks were well received by the campers.
